Is The Fight For Gay Rights The New Civil Rights Battle?

August 26, 2013

This Wednesday marks the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, where Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his famous "I Have A Dream" speech. The Rev. Eugene F. Rivers III and the Rev. Irene Monroe joined Jim Braude and Kara Miller — filling in for Margery Eagan — to ask if the gay rights movement has undergone its own transformational moment.

Also on BPR:

  • Democratic strategist Michael Goldman and former Massachusetts State Treasurer Joe Malone talked politics.
  • Do you like the idea of an open workspace in the office? Or do you favor the traditional offices and high-walled cubicles? Jim and Kara asked callers what makes for a better work environment.
  • Garen Daly talked about New England's dwindling number of drive-in movie theaters.
